The Burgess Boys is a story that is much larger than Jim and Bob Burgess. It is bigger than the entire Burgess family. It's a story of misunderstanding and ignorance. And it's a story of acceptance and forgiveness. When Zach Burgess makes a poor decision which finds him in legal trouble, his uncles, Jim and Bob come back to Maine to help legally and to provide support. This starts a chain of events which impacts each of the Burgesses differently as well as the residents of Shirley Falls.

A story of family dynamics and a long held secret by one of them. There are tensions between the siblings that stem from a tragedy in their young childhood. The Burgess brothers return to the hometown, they had escaped years earlier, to help their nephew whom is in trouble. We also see the struggles and prejudices that immigrant communities deal with in assimilating into American towns.
