English-czech and czech-english pocket dictionary - Praha 1982
This “book” was my first entry. For the first book entry one would think that I’ve probably chosen quite unusual book. But let me explain. If I look back about 4 years, 1998, it must have been the most read book in my bookcase. I rarely used it while speaking. Rather than run immediately to written help, it is much better to try to use different words to describe the same situation. And people have the ability to do so, well most of them anyway. But when reading, it is crucial to have a back up. That means either bug someone constantly asking them what this and that means. They than ask about the context and that means to read the same over-read paragraph over again. Or there is the independent help of the dictionary. Well sometimes I caught my self using this dictionary in almost every sentence and that was very annoying. So I never finished reading any books and the dictionary always won the most read book in my bookcase.
