As is typical with Picoult’s books, this one is told in different voices with lots of flashbacks. It’s the story of Jenna, a teenage girl who goes looking for her mother who mysteriously disappears after an accident in an elephant sanctuary where someone was killed. She enlists the help of a psychic and a detective who originally was on the case.
Unlike other Picoult books, I somehow didn’t feel connected to the characters. Perhaps that was because of the constant shifting from one character to another. I wanted more continuity to the story. Or maybe it was because all the voices sounded so much alike that I couldn’t tell one from the other.
I did, however, appreciate all the research the author did on elephants, their habitat, and habits. I actually felt more emotion in reading about them than I did their human counterparts.

Thanks for being so generous with your rabck. I enjoy reading Picoult's books, even though I don't always agree with the ending! Looking forward to reading this one.
