Recived the book today - Thanks a lot, Jubby!
The reviewer cited on the front cover - "honest, street-smart, evocative and wise" - sound very promising.

This book spent a long time more or less forgotten about in my shelf for books to be red. When Melina Marchetta's novel Jellicoe Road got a lot of mentioning in one of the book blogs that I regularely read the name of the author sounded oddly familiar.
I started going through my bookshelves and rediscivered Looking for Alibrandi. Brought it with me to what was supposed to be only a summer adventure in Helsinki, read it and liked it.
I didn't have the same type of awesome reading experience with it as I've heard that some people hav had with Jellicoe Road, but I truly liked the characters in it and appreciated the glimpse of immigrant issues in Australia that it offered.
Turns out I would return to live more permanently in Helsinki, and turns out one of my long-time internet friends was wishing for this book. So, off it finally goes! I got somewhat attached to the book, and didn't feel inspired to do a wild release, so I'm really happy to have found someone who is actively looking for the book - and also looking forward tio reading her opinions.

Received fron ika-cassiopeia, thank you!
I've recently read "Jellicoe Road" and thought I should read something more by Melina Marchetta. I will put it on my TBR list and hopefully you'll hear from me again soon...

I read this a while ago and it's still sitting on my desk waiting to go out again... will try to get it out soon!
I liked it, although it lacked the magic of Jellicoe Road. This was more down to earth, more interesting than awaysweepingly great. It was a good read, but don't expect another Jellicoe Road.
