Alice Hoffman is an author whom I heard about when I joined Bookcrossing but I have never had a chance to read her books. This will give me a taste of her writing - I have been told she's good, I hope I won't be disappointed!
From Amazon.com:
As this novel opens, March Murray Cooper returns to her hometown, ostensibly to bury the woman who raised her but needing to resolve the unfinished business of her youthful love for Hollis, from whom she has been separated for years. Hollis has now grown into a man embittered by loneliness. He has learned neither to forgive nor to forget, and March must discover whether he can ever learn to love. Hoffman takes great care here to examine the many facets of love and relationships, turning them like a prism to reflect on March and Hollis. Hoffman's evocative language and her lyrical descriptions of place contrast sharply with the emotional scars that her characters must uncover and bear. Her novel is a haunting tale of a woman lost in and to love; it will enthrall the reader from beginning to end.

Thank you very much for the book. I love Hoffman, always enjoy her books and have not read this one. Everyone seems to be passing it on, but I'll give it a go & read it when I get around to it. Thanks, thanks, thanks.

I recently finished reading this book. I was a little disappointed. I feel that it was 'soapy' compared to other Hoffman books I have read. I did keep my interest all of the way through, but it was predictable and a pretty light read. It is on its way to LadyIndigo as a RABCK. I hope you enjoy it more than I did. Please let me know what you think.
received (well collected from the post office box) today from the lovely nikkilovesbooks
thanks so much for forwarding it to *my* mount tbr....

Hmmm...damned by faint praise, and the first few pages seem to give credence to nikkilovesbooks' feeling that this is a bit of a soapy. But it does supply an 'H' author for my A-Z challenge this year, so I'll grin and bear it. Thanks for thinking of me, LadyIndigo.
