Tells of an unwanted child, dumped on her strange grandfather in his hut on the mountains when her young aunt could no longer be bothered with her.

What a stunning old book with a load of personality! Read this when I was a child, looking forward to reading it again.
Thanks DianeO for passing it on!

Arrived unexpectedly today with a bookring book - thanks, felicia-fairy! I read Heidi many many years ago and enjoyed it, so it will be great to revisit it.

Couldn't resist the temptation to sit down and read this book this afternoon after sitting my final exam (totally ignoring the leaning TBR pile that should have priority!). A really sweet book that mostly avoids becoming too saccarine. I want to go and visit Switzerland NOW! :-)
Will take this to the meetup tomorrow morning, because there's a young bookcrosser who'll be there who I think would enjoy it (if she hasn't read it already).
Thanks again, felicia-fairy, for the chance to revisit an old friend.

PS. I love discovering old inscriptions in books, and this one has a lovely one:
"To Linda, For Christmas, 1967. From The Vicar & Mrs Bardsley" written in Christmassy green and red ink.

Given to meerkitten at this morning's breakfast meetup. She was last seen wandering off with her nose already deep into the book :-)
Hope you enjoy it, meerkitten!

It's about a girl who lives in the mountains with her grandfather. I enjoyed it.

I love "Heidi". So old fashioned and sweet, but contains timeless life lessons.
