What is a bookring and how do I get in on it?(thanks go to PHC for her detailed instructions which helped me greatly in understanding the process)

A bookring begins when a bookcrosser decides to send a book on a controlled journey. A list of interested readers is set up and the book passes from one reader who reads it and then sends it along to the person next in line. Eventually the book ends up back in the hands of the original owner which, for this book, will be me, nikel27. A reader can join the bookring at any time unless I decide to close it (if that happens I'll make a note that the ring has closed). Just private message (PM) me and let me know where you are located (city, state & country) and if you are able to ship internationally.

What should I do when I receive the book?
Log on to bookcrossing and type in up journal entry so I know it reached you okay. Then private message (PM) the next person in line to get their mailing address so there will be no waiting once you finish the book, if they do not respond within 10 days PM the next reader in line (and me so I know they are no longer interested). Please read the book within 30 days and when complete add another journal entry with your comments. Tell me the truth :) Was it the best thing you ever read or a complete and utter waste of time? I love to talk to books, the good, the bad and ugly (ugly can sometimes be lots of fun to dissect), you can write one sentence or a hundred. When finished
What if I'm the last in line PM me and I'll send you my mailing address.

Thanks for participating!

Please PM me if would like to be added to the list or have any questions about the book or the bookring!

Received the book today. Thank you! Probably will be a bit strange reading about Christmas in the middle of summer ...

A MISTY HARBOR CHRISTMAS
Such a sweet story! I came home today from work and was feeling a little bit depressed and this story made me smile again. No artificially blown-up misunderstandings, no woman behaving like she can't survive without a "strong" man by her side ... I really liked the characters. And Marcia Evanick was the first writer I have come across who gave a thought to the volume of either partner during climax. Had to laugh at that text passage!

09/12
ALL I WANT
Not as good as the first story. I thought it was rather implausible that Greg would assume that Abby would marry him after he had explained about the rumor of his engagement. I mean, there could have been a whole lot of other reasons on top of that why she had left him without an explanation! And he even bought the house before knowing if she would take him back! It made for a nice change that the story was written as a first-person narrative, but other than that ... And none of the minor characters made an impression, they were forgotten as soon as I finished the story.

09/14
MERRY, MERRY
My, that was a fast-paced and higgledy-piggledy told story that left me out of breath! When Andi and Peter were talking to each other, I always wanted to shout: "Wow, slow down a bit, nobody's chasing you!" It had some funny scenes, though, and the meddling grandmother reminded me of the one in the "Simply" trilogy.

09/17
CHRISTMAS EVE
Overall a nice story. I liked Eve's independent streak, and that she didn't end up as a little housewife at the end of the story, but some scenes in the middle were a bit over the top. I mean, how does that sound to you:
"He was teaching her the nuances of domination and submission, the sheer bliss that transforms a female who yields all to the male."
Or, one of my favourite ;-) alliterations:
"...to grip his bare arms where his biceps bulged so boldly."
Why is it always a make-or-break for the woman?

I apologize to all who come after me in this ring that I kept this nice book for so long, but two moves in two months don't leave too much time for reading. I sent the book out today and hope it will arrive safely in Poland.

RELEASE NOTES:

I've enjoyed these stories except the one by Fern Michaels. I just couldn't get into the story, it was written strangely and I didn't get past the second chapter.
But the story by V. Henley was extremly sensual and sexy. And I liked the stories by the two other authors - new to me - especially the second story in the book - it was totally funny.

Sending to pammykn! Have fun with it!

Thanks for sharing this book. These were all light quick holiday stories. I liked A Misty Harbor Christmas by Marcia Evanick the best. I've read one of her books set in Misty Harbor and also enjoyed that one so it was nice to revisit this charming town in Maine again. Christmas Eve by Virginia Henley was my least favorite. The Henley was little strong on the opposite personality thing but I did get a few smiles from it. Fern Michaels, Merry, Merry did have a very fast pace & did seem rather rushed. The Holly Chamberlain story All I Want was cute, the ending was rather neatly wrapped up in the last couple of pages. This one will be in the mail tomorrow to bunnybee.

Journal Entry 10 by Bunnybee from Amarillo, Texas USA on Saturday, November 6, 2004
Received this book today! I have 2 bookring/rays ahead of this one, but I should be able to get it finished long before November is over. And to think we just had our first snow of the season earlier this week, too. :-)

Thank you, pammykn for getting this to me, and thank you to nikel27 for the bookring!

November 14- starting on this bookring today and we have snow outside!

Journal Entry 11 by Bunnybee from Amarillo, Texas USA on Thursday, November 18, 2004
Just finished the book this evening- I found all the stories quite enjoyable and fast reads. A really nice break from all the books I've been reading lately- funny how a nice, neat romance can fill in those spots for you! I think my least favorite one was Merry, Merry by Fern Michaels. It did seem a bit rushed to me, too. And not that any romance is all that believable at times- this one REALLY seemed hard to believe. I loved the sexiness of Christmas Eve by Virginia Henley- and it doesn't help that I have a 'thing' for firefighters- it was a fantasy story for sure. ;-)

I found I enjoyed A Misty Harbor and All I Want the most- both were sweet stories, and what really made All I Want was the humor in it. I loved the way each chapter started out with an "All I want for Christmas is..." statement that summed up that chapter.

Thank you nikel27 for sharing this book! It was my first time to read anything from any of these authors. I really enjoyed reading it! I will be sending it back to you tomorrow. :-)

11/19 shipped via surface mail back to nikel27 in Germany!
