Tris has survived a brutal attack on her former home and family. But she has paid a terrible price. Wracked by grief and guilt, she becomes even more reckless as she struggles to accept her new future.
Yet if Tris wants to uncover the truth about her world, she must be stronger than ever... because more shocking choices and a sacrifice lies ahead.

To make it more difficult for Tris, she feels guilty for shooting Will while he was under simulation and would have killed Tris if she was not quicker than him. Nevertheless she bothers over all 525 pages that she cannot hold a gun any longer and therefore is practically unarmed... the constant issues with Tobias are as well a little bit far fetched and very American in their problems and issues, which I found boring. I am sure, the story could have been equally thrilling, if not even better, if this constant on and off relationship would not have happened. Tris' rescue from the death chamber was also a little bit far fetched, unfortunately. Therefore I read the book eagerly as I wanted to know, how the future of Chicago would emerge, but was not too much into Tris' well being.
The end, in which a new order will be established was somehow to be expected, although I though it would come only in the 3rd book. Of course Tris has an ancestor, who tried to save the city several decades ago and I guess, this will give her a head start in the third book...

Woohoo, I can hardly wait to read this installment in the Divergent series ...

This second book in the series, lacked the lustre that "Divergent" had, but it was still interesting and quite necessary in the building of characters and story plot line.

Tris is saddled with guilt and grief at the loss of her parents and her friend Will. This baggage slows her down and makes her relationship with Tobias quite bumpy. I could have done without that distraction, but guess it belongs in a YA book ;-)

I love the twists and turns Roth uses to reveal the political struggle and conflict within the factions. I enjoyed the challenges and choices that each person needed to deal with. Her writing style is so easy to read and the reader is as involved as any of the characters on the page.
Sadly it wasn't quite as intense as the first in the series - not quite as personal. Still, I long to get my hands on the next installment as soon as possible!

ALEXDRAGON:

Much like the Hunger Games series I enjoyed the first book much more than the second in the series. This book literally picks up where the last book left off. It could have been combined into one book without any loss in flow. Still, for some reason I had a harder time getting into this book.
It is a fairly easy, quick read and probably still worth your time but it wasn't my favorite.
