Got this and two others in a bookpeople deal in the summer 2013.
My next Bryant and May book to read. This one follows hot on the heels of the last book, On the Loose. Quite literally. At the end of the previous book the murderer escapes, so the task for this one is to catch him again, within a week, or else the peculiar crimes department will be shut down. It did feel like a bit of lazy writing, just stringing out the plot of the previous book. There are a few other murders here which may or may not be to do with the illusive Mr Fox.
A lot of this book focuses around Kings Cross and the London Underground, so it makes for interesting reading exploring the history, complexity, local anecdotes and urban legends of the place. This look at London that I got from the previous book I read is something in particular that I enjoyed. And the characters are fun and quirky and there are some great one liners and characters. Crippin the cat!
Well, the murders are kind of interesting and mysterious in this one, although the explanation is a bit of a let down. I don't know, these things often are with mysteries as they can never live up to your expectations that your imagination has been working up. I suspect however that this isn't the best book in the series.

Totally agree with you, Apechild, about this one! SPOILERZ> There are two murderers in this one, and I thought Mr Fox got a bit lost in this book... He was set up as such a dangerous, blank character, and his arrest and motives just seem a bit... small, somehow. Unless, of course, he'll come back in another book.
But the bits about the underground are fascinating and flavourful, and the Night Crawler bit was genuinely creepy!
