Brilliant - an absolutely original and enjoyable read. Inspector Singh is a Sikh inspector with the Singapore police - a bit of a maverick (this is the fourth book in the series so I don't know all the background). Having annoyed his bosses in Singapore, he's sent to Cambodia on a 'watching brief' as an ASEAN observer at the war crimes trial of a senior Khmer Rouge member, but ends up embroiled in a local murder investigation. Definitely adding the other books in this series to my wishlist!

Engaging whodunit style book with Cambodia providing an interesting setting for the protagonist. The bloody history of the country, and the legacy it has left on some of the principal characters, is by far the most interesting thing about this book.
