I would recommend this book to all people high school age and older. The themes involved become mature throughout the book and are quite shocking at times. Following the development of the characters, however, is very interesting and the reader is able to learn a lot about the culture. The setting is in Kabul when the Taliban invade. The traditions of the culture such as kite fighting and devastation suffered by this region is shown through imagery of a post taliban world that the main character travels back to. In order to make "everything good again" Amir was conquer his fears. This book goes through a story of redemption that has many twists and turns that will leave you crying one minute and smiling the next.
