I felt like a few classics were in order for Christmas, and so I spent annandag jul, Boxing Day, with To Kill a Mockingbird. It has to be confessed, that I found it awfully slow in the beginning and couldn't really see what made the book as special as it has become in literary world. Everything really important only took place on the last 100 pages or so! Then I realised that I should have read it in my early teens! It would have made an impact, just like Anne Frank's diary did! As an adult reader, I found it slightly patronising to have everything explained and simplified on the pages of the book. I've read my history books, have seen what prejudice and injustice cause in a community and rather exercise my brain than just take everything as it is. For a child learning and understanding the morals of this world it would make a perfect read! Mockingbird is clearly a praise for sweet childhood years and to the people in the author's life, also being a true coming-of-age story.
Just wanted to add the link here, just so I can find the story after Go Set a Watchman has been published! I'm expecting it to be a more grown-up read, a more unscrupulous and truthful story. http://www.theguardian.com/books/booksblog/2015/feb/06/to-kill-mockingbird-harper-lee-overrated-sequel-go-set-watchman

I'm not really sure whether I've already read this one earlier. Maybe not. Just heard lots of it, maybe just wanted to read it. I'll put in in my pile, and at the same time I hope that it won't stay there too long. Thanks.

One day, I just started to read this book, and I'm happy that I did. Good entertainment during meals. Further I got, faster I wanted to proceed. I kind of waited for what was going to be the point, and after reading about love from back cover, I started to wait something to reveal. It was nice to finally figure out, how the idea of the story had been told in the beginning. The story started to feel never ending. Thanks for sharing this nice read.

The book's back in my hands! I couldn't let it go wild just yet, so I offered it on Finnish forum. It found a new reader and will now wait for a bit before being couriered forward!
