While I enjoyed this book, I don't know that it was as great as friends claimed it to be. I enjoyed references to some of the 80s bands (which I adore) and could see some of my husband in Rob -- our musical differences sometimes make him cringe.

Fourth finish in 2004 - now I'm off to find the next book!

Well, I thought this book was hilarious. Rob and his friends are exactly like the group of guys I hung out with in high school. Some of them are still like Rob too. Kind of sad. I can't say he is that sympathetic. I mean - grow up, dude! But, I did laugh throughout reading this. Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Arrived today and I shall start reading as soon as I am finished with my current book. Hopefully I'll have it on its way to the next reader in 10 days or so. Thanks for sharing - I love Nick Hornby's writing and I haven't seen the movie!

I was kind of disappointed by this one. I thought I would be charmed by the endless slackerdom of music fanatic Rob but I just grew tired of him after awhile. The resolution of the book didn't make much sense to me either. Maybe it was true love but it sure didn't hit me that way. More apathy than love.

30.12. I received the book by mail from tnelson99 today, thank you!

13.1. I finished the book today. I saw the movie some years ago, but I didn't remember much of it, though, except that I liked it. So, I liked the book too even though the main character is so pathetic sometimes. Somehow he was kind of sympathetic and lost that I felt sorry for him. When he had to face some of his worst fears, death of a some one close, something starts to happen and he starts to grow up, I suppose. Yet the change isn't so obvious and the resolution of the book isn't pinky happy with fluffy clouds, but more down to earth, real-life type of resolution.

Journal Entry 19 by WillowSnow from Weston-super-Mare , Somerset United Kingdom on Wednesday, March 1, 2006
I recieved this book a few days ago, but have not been able to get to a computer for about a week due to college work.

I am looking forward to reading this book.

Journal Entry 20 by lostbookisland on Saturday, December 16, 2006
This book has washed ashore at the Lost Book Island after not being heard from for many months. This new arrival will be shown to a room and be allowed a bit of rest before being introduced to the many fun things to do here at the island.

All around there are books sipping cool drinks under shady palms while other books participate in a wide variety of beach sports. There is plenty of sand, surf and sun here for all of the lost and wayward books to enjoy.

It is hoped that very soon a new journal entry will come to rescue this book from the island and send it back out into the BookCrossing world so that it may continue on its journey. It is hoped that the new journal entry will tell all the interested parties where this book has been this long time and where it will be traveling to next.
