I love this book. I first read it in 6th grade and then re-read each year for about 3 years after that. It's better than the movie, and it keeps you interested. While it's over 1000 pages, you won't find yourself struggling to finish it. I highly recommend that you all go out and read this - especially if you liked the movie.

I caught the book months ago while waiting my turn to give blood at the American Red Cross donation center. It had been awhile since I'd read such a hefty novel (over 1000 pages!), so I decided to give it a shot.
It took a little while to get "into" the book. This tends to happen to me when the main character is female, and the story line is relationship -- rather than action -- driven. My limited availability of reading time also contributed to a slow start
But, eventually, I got hooked. Highpoints of the book for me were the insights into life in the South, and attitudes and relationships between people. Margaret Mitchell does a superb job of capturing these. I was also surprised at how relevent these relationships have to modern relationships between men and women.
I'm glad I persisted in seeing this novel through and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes to immerse him/herself into a sweeping, epic novel.
I'm passing the book along, with it's BookCrossing documentation, to a work colleague to read or release.
