Cutting for Stone
2 journalers for this copy...

From the back of the book..."Marion and Shiva Stone are twin brothers born of a secret union between a beautiful Indian nun and a brash British surgeon. Orphaned by their mother's death and their father's disappearance, bound together by a preternatural connection and a shared fascination with medicine, the twins come of age as Ethiopia hovers on the brink of revolution."
My thoughts...I was drawn into this book from the first page. It is a well-written multi-layered story. Marion tells the story. He pieced together the story of his parents' meeting and tells their story then his own.

Abraham Verghese invites us into the life of Marion Stone. Cutting for Stone is a story of life, love, betrayal, lies, affection, and ties that forever bind people to each other. Marion and his twin, Shiva, were born the same day their mother, a nun, died. Their father, unable to cope with the tragic event, abandons the babies and flees into the night. Shiva and Marion are two peas in a pod, always there for and with each other until the day Shiva betrays Marion. But years later and thousands of miles between them cannot keep them apart as they will always be ShivaMarion.
