The Rape of Nanking is a well-written account of the atrocities that occurred in Nanking, in 1937. The Japanese invaded and slaughtered 300,000 innocent Chinese.
Known for being "The Forgotten Holocaust of World War II," this book goes into gruesome detail of how the Chinese were mistreated and tortured by the Japanese. It also addresses the ways the Japanese tried to deny it ever happened, and tried to cover it up. This book has an interesting twist, because its told from three different perspectives: from the eyes of the Chinese citizens; to Japanese soldiers; and finally the allies who created safety zones to shelter the Chinese from the unrelenting destruction of Japan's conquest. I highly recommend reading this book and feel everyone will learn from it, but it does have some explicit content.
