Set in Australia in the years 1907 to 1931 and spanning World War 1 and the Great Depression, it follows the lives of two childhood friends; Jackie, who is a dwarf whose mother keeps the grocery shop, and Cushie, a beautiful youg girl whose parents are upper-class snobs.
A tale of love, loyalty, hardship, endurance, and the indestructibility of the human spirit.
