The Sense of an Ending (Borzoi Books)

I found the start of this book almost unbearably boring, but I stuck with it (it's a short novel) and managed to finish it and find out the central mystery. Well-written but pretentious. Not sure why this won the Man Booker Prize, especially because Barnes's other books are so much better. But maybe it's like the Oscars, and they judge based on the body of work and by what the competition is like in a particular year. Anyway, I'm glad he won a big prize.
