Oranges
Consider the Eel
Packing for Mars
Rubbish!
Bananas
In Harm's Way
On The Courthouse Lawn
Deadly Feasts
Flu
An Air That Kills
The Meaning of Everything
The Physics of Star Trek
Coal
Battle Stations

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Took out the cover postcard of the Challenger launching. It was a pretty sight. I did not miss one Challenger Launch on the TV, never failed to thrill me.

Sent off as the replacement journal for the renewed box of 6of8's MaryZee's Biography of Things Bookbox. Travel far ....

Journal Entry 3 by winginnaewing at Aurora, Colorado USA on Saturday, July 27, 2013
The MaryZee bookbox has made it to Colorado. Thought I would just leave the Space Shuttle in the box to continue on the travels!

Journal Entry 4 by winginnaewing at Aurora, Colorado USA on Saturday, July 27, 2013
So it didn't take me too long to go through the box :-) -- I chose four (Packing for Mars, Rubbish, The Physics of Star Trek and Deadly Feasts) and added in (The Eternal Bliss Machine, American Vampires, The Lives of a Cell, and Why There is Antifreeze in Your Toothpaste) -- I am going to Brunch with Books organized by Stinalyn, who advises she has MANY books that need homes, so thought I would wait to seal up the box to see if she has anything worthy of this most excellent honoring of a great Bookcrosser.

The box arrived today (9/10/13) somewhat worse for wear. As far as I can tell, nothing was lost, but just in case, I'm listing the contents here. (Larger photo here.)

..and Chicken Soup for the Cat & Dog Lover's Soul, which doesn't seem to be registered.

* Someone's "Winter Canyon Adventure 2013" CD was inside this book; do you want it back?? - solved!

Journal Entry 15 by weiterferne at Houston, Texas USA on Saturday, October 26, 2013
What a nice little postcard selection! (I like the space shuttle and am a bit sad that it wasn't to remain in Houston at the space center. So I took a postcard!)

Don't know if it was me or the box, but I found less interesting books this time (and thought that some don't seem to belong in there). But found two hopefully good reads:

Flu
The secret life of Lobsters

Replaced them with:
Longitude
Made in America

Eponine38 handed the Biographies of Things box off to me today; many thanks! Will make my selections and get it moving again soon. [Of the postcards, my favorite's the one showing the Challenger being carried piggy-back by the modified 747; I still recall how jaw-droppingly impressive that was the first time I saw it, and it still boggles my mind!]

Update: Since nobody's claimed the Chicken Soup for Cat & Dog Lovers book, I've gone ahead and registered it, and am including it in my choices even though it isn't a biography of things. (If the person who included it did register it, and if they notice this note, please get in touch with me; if I haven't released the book yet I can renumber it.)

My choices include:

Chicken Soup for the Cat & Dog Lover's Soul
Lhasa Apsos
Tools and Techniques (Handyman Club)
Prevention's Disease Fighting Foods
Flags of the World
The Eternal Bliss Machine
Why Do Clocks Run Clockwise?
More of the Straight Dope
Longitude (I see that this one was from MaryZee herself... I'm pleased to see another of her books still traveling)
The Victorian Internet
In Harm's Way
American Vampires

And I'm adding:

The Poisoner's Handbook
The Buried Book
Consider the Fork
The Evolution of Useful Things
London Under
Proust and the Squid
The Billionaire's Vinegar
Heave Ho: My Little Green Book of Seasickness
Red House
White Bread
The Big Necessity
Down with the Old Canoe
A Natural History of the Senses

And I left in:

Spam - I managed to read this one while the box was with me; great fun.

The Chair - I was tempted to take this one, too, as the history-of-chairs and the bits about ergonomic seating postures looked interesting, but I figured I'd already snarfed enough from this box!

Update, Jan. 10: the box is on its way to Elizardbreath in Arkansas, tracking # 9114901075742501916686 . Hope it travels safely, and that people enjoy the books!

Journal Entry 25 by wingelizardbreathwing at Bella Vista, Arkansas USA on Wednesday, January 15, 2014
I have not been so excited for a bookbox to arrive for a really long time! Not only is this my first bookbox in Arkansas, but it's a special one that I've participated in several times. This big box arrived today (1/27) - judging from the postage on the box, it's 18 lbs.

It will take me a little while to go through the box and figure out what's going on, but I enjoyed flipping through the postcards again.

Just for fun, here are some lovely space-themed cakes: Sunday Sweets... In... SPAAAACE!

And one particularly memorable (if slightly NSFW) cake shuttle: This One's For The Ladies

Journal Entry 36 by winghyphen8wing at Honolulu, Hawaii USA on Friday, January 29, 2016
Timing is everything: this book arrived yesterday, and today (January 28) is the anniversary of the Challenger explosion...so I was looking at the postcards again and I pulled out my souvenir button.

Journal Entry 55 by wingAzukiwing at Miami, Florida USA on Sunday, March 12, 2017
Glad to see this little book again, much slimmer than I last saw it. : )

The box arrived sooner than I expected, so I have to either do a read-a-thon and read up more books to put in, or I'll need to be more picky about my selection and put back some books. Will send this out in a couple of weeks.

Also, this is the list of participants for the current round:

2017 Participants

Elizardbreath
Eponine38
GoryDetails
Azuki
DebNance

The shuttles are here again, although it looks like we're now down to 11 postcards...and 9 notes from the people who kept a postcard, which I'd never realized before - that's a nice touch.

A bunch of interesting stuff in here, and a couple of familiar books. :)

I'll double-check heartthumper's address before sending the box and its journal on again.

Bookcrossers LOVE books, and more than anything, they love to read books and then set them free for other people to find and enjoy. I would love it if you would leave a journal entry -- you can say where you found the book or how you liked it when you read it. Then, when you are ready, pass it along for someone else to enjoy! Thanks and happy reading!

The box just arrived over the weekend. I am excited to get the box, of course, but I screamed with joy at the beautiful stamps. Hamster stamp! Bunny! Guinea Pig! (https://www.instagram.com/p/B3QtZRgl-fp) Not to mention the wishlist book included. Thank you so much!

I do have a problem... I just said goodbye to some house guests this morning and I myself is packing to go on a trip the day after tomorrow. It is my bad that I forgot that Hyphen8 lives in Hawaii and the box takes longer to arrive. I had thought that I would have time to move the box before my trip, but now I just don't, especially as I have to find a new box as the original one has burst.

So, my apologies for holding up the box for an extra two weeks. I will take care of it as soon as I return.
