The year is 865AD. Vikings rule in Ireland and the north of England. Yet another of their armies is fighting and butchering its way south. Both royalty and Christianity are under threat of destruction. Into this cauldron comes Shef, son of a Viking father and an English mother. Granted mysterious visions, he is protected by the priests of an expanding Norse religion, the Asgarth Way. His dreams allow him to build mighty weapons and engines of war, but he has powerful enemies in both the Viking and English camps.
