I read The Time Traveler's Wife a while ago and was pleased to see a second hand, pristine copy at the bookshop where I work, so snaffled it. This is one of those books that could have been edited more and I thought the film of the book made a good job of it, however Niffenegger is a fine storyteller and the premise is quite brilliant.

E.M. Forster made a visit to the Indian state of Dewas Senior in 1912, and again in 1921, as a private secretary to Maharajah. His letters home are interspersed with later comments. Forster regarded his stays in India as the great opportunity of his life and used material from this book in his most famous novel "A Passage to India".
