There is a label inside the front cover indicating that the first owner was a Marilyn W. who lived in Redondo Beach, CA.

This is one of my all-time favorite murder mysteries. I have passed on several copies of this book to friends but none have ever returned to me. I picked up this copy at a local used bookstore so that I could pass it on to my daughter. She's reading it now.

Some day she may pass it along to one of her friends and who knows where it will end up.

My Dad gave me the book a while ago. I wasn't sure about it at first, but my dad kept insisting on reading it. When I read it I was amazed by the detail it contained. I loved it. It was a little slow at first, but it will pick up speed and you won't be able to stop.

Received in bookring. A light, easy read. Interesting characters, but it couldn't decide whether it was a book about women in Kansas during the depression or a mystery. I think I would have liked it more if it was just about the women. Still, I enjoyed meeting the members of The Persian Pickle Club.

Release planned for Friday, May 09, 2003 at Bookring/ray in USPS, postal release USA.

Sent on to L8bloomer, next in bookring.

I just came back from picking up our mail that was being held as we camped up at Mt. Rainier. My husband is backpacking the Wonderland Trail in 2 weeks with his hiking buddy and I was just thrilled to be able to go up and drop off their one cache and get to camp out Mowich Lake. It is beautiful and he is so lucky to get to be going back thru there again. :)

Anyway, I was just thrilled to get this book in mail. It looks like it will be a fun read!

Unfortunately I have several bookrays/rings in front of this book. I am trying to get through them as quickly as I can but still enjoy the journey each book takes me on. Here is the list of books in front of this one.
Girl Goddess #9: Nine Stories
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
Milkrun
The Master and Margarita
How to Murder a Millionaire
Leave It to Beany!
and then I can read this book....
The Persian Pickle Club
Satellite Sisters' Uncommon Senses

Thanks again curtis721 for sending out this bookring and thank you L8bloomer for sending it on to me.

I was not sure I was going to like this book but it just drew me into it. What an amazing bound of friendship the women of the Persian Pickle Club have. I don't want to say too much as there are still others waiting to read this book. This was a great book to read while my husband is backpacking Mt. Rainier's Wonderland Trail

This book will be off to France soon! Thanks curtis721!

I enjoyed reading this and getting a feel for the lives of the women (and men) in Kansas at that time. I love mysteries, but would have to agree with kalipriestess that it probably would have been better without that aspect. All-in-all, a nice, cosy read. I'm mailing this off to inaperfectbind this afternoon.

This book arrived while I was out of town, just got it today. Looking forward to reading it but I have four other rays/rings before it, so I'll read as quickly as I can and send them on their ways.

Wow, what a good book! I was getting pretty close to the end before I figured out what really happened, which is a pretty good trick, in my opinion. I flipped back through the book after I’d finished, and the clues were all there, but I didn’t put it together. Maybe I’m the only one that took so long to see it coming?

I also loved the cadence of this book. The text and the dialogue felt very real to me. I liked the little touches, like the way Queenie always calls her former schoolmate “Agnes T. Ritter,” every time, without fail, even before we know why she does it.

I also loved that it was a mystery without (most of) the tension and suspense you usually associate with that genre. To me, that made it all feel as if it could really have happened.

Have any of you read a short story called “A Jury of Her Peers”? Wish I could remember the author. This book reminded me very much of that story.

Please allow me to apologize to everyone participating in this ring/ray, especially to curtis721 and all those who follow me on the list. I did say it might take me a while, but it was _never_ my intention to hold on to it for this long. There was no malice in the delay; I just got very, very busy. I won’t bore you with the details, but for the last nine months or so, it’s been hard enough to find time to read, much less create thoughtful journal entries and get books in the mail. So, again, I apologize.

Thanks, curtis721, for offering this book! I really enjoyed having the chance to read it. It is now on its way to Spark via USPS routing number 0302 1790 0003 0118 7019. (I had to skip Genie because she turned off her PM option; maybe someone knows her personally and can let her know, in case she wants to be put back in line?)
