This was a very interesting read, I enjoyed it very much! For once I think it was a good thing that I had seen the movie before I read this book as I felt I got more out of it as a result.

When I started the book, one of the minor characters was still performing her duties, and at the end of it everything had turned into a bygone era. An absolutely wonderful dive into old diaries, letters and archives! It's always interesting where life's little obscurities take you, and how the world looks different once you get a glimpse from another perspective. Perhaps Lionel's generation just had a greater sense of duty than the ones that came after him. Wonder if the family still have that snuff box...

Niin se kirja matkasi Turusta Forssan kautta tänne Tammelaan! Nappasin sen pippikseltä eilisessä kirjanvaihto- ja kahvittelumiitissä. Kirja kiinnostaisi lukea, mutta olen sen verran hitaampi lukija englanniksi – ja pari toivelistoilla olevaa Cleo Coylea odottaa (niissäkin nimittäin menee aikaa, vaikka helppoa englantia ovatkin) – että saa nähdä, luenko tämän itse vai annanko eteenpäin.
