My 12 year old daughter is playing Liesl in her middle school play so I purchased this book as well as a copy of Letters to Liesl, autographed by Charmian Carr herself for my daughter for Christmas. i found them on Amazon.com. I am considering donating these books for a Sound of Music raffle as the school is trying to raise money for the production, but we have not read the books yet so I am not sure I am prepared to release them.

I am the other parent of the daughter who was picked to play Liesl in a Middle School musical. We bought it for her as a present and then I couldn't put it down. It's a wonderful book that brought back memories of seeing the movie with my high school girlfriend in 1965. I did not know of Charmian's story and I enjoyed/grieved with her as she told it. We are donating it for a raffle to raise funds to help defray costs of the musical
