This was a well-written mystery set in an alternate version of post-WWII England. Though this was laid out as a traditional British-style mystery, with an inspector and an old English country house, the mystery element took a backseat to the political and social issues of the world that Walton had created. I enjoyed this novel almost as much as I did Walton's Hugo-winning Among Others and plan to read the next book in this series.

Found this book in a nice coffee shop in Boston Massachusetts. The concept of the traveling book seemed very cool to me so I picked it up and decided to read it. The book itself was only ok. The plot was interesting enough that it was easy to get through and really a quick read, but the writing I didn't find to be all that good. It was slightly inconsistent. Overall I'm happy I read it.

I've had it for a few weeks now and really wanted to move it to a new city. I finally left Boston for the weekend and am in the Providence RI area. Not sure where I will leave it yet but it will be somewhere in that area.

While reading some reviews, it doesn't seem like it is an award winner but I plan on reading it on the way to San Jose, California and will try to leave it there! Love this concept... Look forward to seeing this book travel even further. :)
