8 journalers for this copy...
"In her second novel, Iris Murdoch strikes a delicate balance between absurdity and tragedy, between realism and fantasy. In the opinion of many devotees, this is her most entrancing novel." from the back-cover.
The actual copy has a different cover, because it is a Penguin PB of 1975, though in a rather good condition.
I am offering it at CasualReader's bookrelay site.

Ohhhh, I've forgotten to register when I received it. Sorry.
I'm reading the book and I think I can post it to the next BCer next week.

I need much more time to read it than I thought. I have finished it only by curiosity. I disliked it a lot, but I can't explain why.
Perhaps my English is not as good to understand it right... I don't know
I'll send it to urpfi

It couldn't have been a better time for me to read this book. I finished last week Elegy for Iris and I really wanted to read one of her books. I have one book to read and then, I'll start this one. Thanks for BookManiac70 for including in me and for Beloved49 for mailing it to me.
Although I had never read one of Iris Murdoch's books before, I fell into her world at the first page. It was a slow, but magic reading. Even after a couple of days, I am still thinking about this book and I am definetely going to read more of her books.
Thanks Bookmaniac70 for sharing this great boook.
I will mail this book to Cisco next week.

Received the book last weekend - thanks!
6/1/05 update - going to begin reading this one tonight - I'm afraid I'm a slow reader. I tend to fall asleep over even the most engaging stories after about 30 minutes...
7/11/05 update - finished this book. Although I appreciate Iris Murdoch's descriptive writing, I find the characters quite odd, and their choices questionable. I feel as though I should have a literature teacher assisting me, or some Cliff's notes to explain the metaphors or hidden meanings! LOL
Will forward to breezygirl67 next.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES:
After reading Elegy for Iris, I wanted to read all Iris Murdoch's books. This is the first one I've tried, and I just couldn't get into it. I'll try some of her others, and try this again another time.
Will take to the Meetup tomorrow night. Thanks for sharing, Bookmaniac70!
