But when they go beyond the boundaries of normal morality their lives are changed profoundly and for ever.

This has taken me ages to read. I was determined to finish but then wondered why I had bothered. It's an overly-long and affected story of college "intellectuals" who cover up a death, murder a friend, drink, and do drugs. Hard to like anyone or anything about this book.

I'm taking this to the Convention to give to someone who has it on their wishlist. Unfortunately I can't remember who it is. Let's hope I remember before I get there - I think I have a gift tag written in my suitcase.

Although it took me a long time to get to it and ,as I’m not reading much at the moment, a long time to read I did enjoy this story. Hoping to get to a post office soon to pass on through a VBB choice, some time ago 😊

I received this Alphabet VBB pick at the 2023 Falkirk Convention, which was maybe not my smartest idea...
I also recently saw a copy of The Secret History at the monthly English book swap in Tbilisi and my friend took it, so I'll probably borrow it from her later and leave this copy at the book buffet.
