This book is now part the Manga Bookbox for the beginning of 2013. :)
I love these bookbox's. It's the whole concept of the 'grab bag' from the old days, writ large. Hope the one's I've opted to add, are found interesting by someone else. :D

Selected from the manga box a few weeks ago. Never heard of this series but the art looks good - yup, totally judging the book by the cover.
A few months back I started reading this but put it aside soon. I thought it's a gothic tale, given the cover, but a few pages in it seemed to be just a regular contemporary slice of life story. Moreover, the pages are hard to read: no paneling, just drawings of the characters at different angles and positions, almost like a sketch (this however only seems to be for the first episode - wonder if the artist was experimenting?)
Yesterday I picked this up again for another try, and lo and behold, this IS a vampire story.
The story feels like a blend of Vampire Hunter D + Bunny Drop, and I find myself enjoy the quiet, tender emotions, a refreshing break from action and horror, even as I wonder how does a vampire's life differs from human beings. They celebrate Valentine's too, for what it's worth.
As the book proceeds, the story gets darker, and more of Kuroe's background is revealed.
I would love to continue reading the series. For now, this is going into the vampire bookbox.

This book rode to the end of the box, and has now joined my shelf. It sounds very interesting! Hopefully I won't be lost jumping in at volume 2.
This was a tough one! I enjoyed the characters and world, but as Azuki mentioned, the layout was odd. I can't quite put my finger on why I was struggling to get through it, but it was definitely interfering with my ability to enjoy the tale. Also as Azuki mentioned, it became more "typical" comic panelling as it continued, which made it easier for me to follow.
I found myself with lots of questions about the vampiric society we see peeks of, nicely creating a world within the world of the comic. I found most of the characters engaging, and their interactions felt genuine.
I'd be up for reading others in this series if they cross my path, but I probably won't go seek them out.
