Do you have cat-titude? If so check out "Get Fuzzy." This is the best strip currently in daily papers. I love Satchel and Bucky! This strip is often the only laugh I get for the day. If you have ever had pets you will enjoy this collection. (I think you might enjoy it if you have never had pets too.)

This collection has the daily strips as well as the Sunday strips. The Sunday funnies are in color.

I would tell you what my favorite strip is but I have too many to choose from! (But I can say I always love seeing Bucky carried around in the "Bundle o'Joy!")

Great to read more of "Get Fuzzy." I discovered it quite a while after it started, and the online strips only go back 30 days :) Did anyone else notice that pages 226 and 227 are repeats of earlier pages?

#21 of my 2004 100 book challange!

This is a great collection of Get Fuzzy strips by the talented and funny Darby Conley . . . Get Fuzzy is one of my daily necessities, and while my local paper handles that nicely for me, a big dose like this book is a laugh riot. In addition to great strips that chronicle the lives of Rob Wilco, Bucky Katt and Satchel, a Lab/SharPei dog, this book also gives a great amount of history on how Conley came up with these engaging characters. (The Far Side syndrome of talking animals . . . a sincere thank you Gary Larson, for your contributions to modern cartooning) I never knew he didn't even have a cat, but had only observed his friends pets. Hmmm . . . maybe that is why there isn't much warm and fuzzy about Bucky!

Some of my favorite character quotes:

Satchel:
I like living in the past . . . its so predictable . . .

Bucky:
I don't do that because I "like" it so much as because it bugs you . . .

Rob:
I'm only gonna go over this ONE MORE TIME - There is no "magic cupboard"; I put the food in there! ME! I do that!

Bucky and Satchel and Rob Wilco . . . muwahahahaha!!!!

thanks, alrescate! This book travels to First-Noel now!

UPDATE: You just have to love Bucky. He's so honest and real. ;0) This was #31 in the 125 Book Challenge. And it is now on it's way to the next person.

I'll let my hubby read it first (he's a Bucky fan!) and I'll get to it next. I won't be able to resist, so I'll read it during my intervals between other rings/rays. Thanks, alrescate, for organizing the ring! :oD

I finished the book a couple of days ago and in several moments, I couldn't stop laughing! I love Bucky! He is so mean and nasty! :oD And now we have converted my hubby to Bookcrossing: although he won't become a member, he always welcomes the packages at our door! :o))

My husband would give this compliation of Get Fuzzy strips a 10 or higher but I found a little bit too much repetition (some of it literal -- pages 203, 204 are repeated in 226, 227) thematically. While the comic strip does have an on-going plot similar punchlines recur with too much regularity. The jokes circle around:

  • What silly letter is Satchel writing this week?
  • How much does Bucky love tuna? (ala how much does Garfield love lasagna?)
  • Bucky's misuse of words (that's chipmunk logic!)
  • How does Bucky scare away Rob's guests?
  • Bucky's latest get rich quick scheme
  • Rob's late to work!
  • Rob has to go on a business trip

Sprinkled in between there are some hilarious one-offs too. The best of the Get Fuzzy comics in this book are the Sunday strips.
