I quite enjoyed this memoir about what it is to be a Christian and an artist and how they are related and unrelated.
Some of my favorite parts:
"We live in a world which believes that self-control can make a virtuous"
"We are all asked to do more than we can do."
"Jesus was not a theologian. He was God who told stories."
"Story was in no way an evasion of life, but a way of living life creatively instead of fearfully."
"Christianity… Is too wild and free for the timid."
Naming is one of the impulses behind all art; to give a name to the cosmos we see despite all the chaos.

Lent to a friend who aspires to be a writer.
