The first installment of this lovely series, in which we meet the the insightful, compassionate Maisie Dobbs, who puts up her professional shingle as a Psychologist and Investigator in 1929 London.

This was waiting for me in my mailbox last night. I will have a very difficult time not jumping into it right away, because I have read the 2nd book in this series and just loved it. However, it should wait until I return home from Europe, since I have books that must be read prior to Convention.

Thanks for including this one in the VBB!

What a wonderful story! I enjoyed very much getting to know Maisie Dobbs and her background, including her childhood, her education, and her experiences during WWI. WWI truly is the Forgotten War, because we know so little about it, especially in the US, and the stories should not be forgotten. The horrors of the war are vividly explained in the discussion of the aftermath and the shattered lives left behind. I enjoyed Maisie's work as a detective and her psychological processing of events in her life and those of her clients. Looking forward to reading all the others in the series (I have already read the 2nd book and loved it).

This is a book I plan to read soon...so many books in line before it. I'm sure I'll enjoy it, since it came highly recommended by the passer on. Merci! I appreciate it. :-)
