I've read some of Alice Hoffman's other books and liked them. This one looks interesting, too, set in a time and place I haven't read much about.

This was nothing like I expected, but not in a bad way. My history with Alice Hoffman led me to think that it would be about witches or at least something mystical. I never thought that I'd end up in the middle of the Spanish Inquisition. This book is a quick read, but it holds a lot to think about. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that we've moved very far in 600 years when we judge people by their religion or lack of it.

I'll get this moving soon, probably into "my" Little Free Library (#7669).

April 23, 2016: Starting this book today. I've been reading reviews, and it looks like it's going to be a quick read, but filled with excitement.

April 24, 2016: A great one-day read! A very difficult subject handled expertly for the YA reader! Setting it aside for a book ring!
