Bookring This is prose poetry by Mary Woodbury who was born in Ontario and now lives in Edmonton, Alberta.

From the inside flap: "Fruitbodies is a powerful new collection of [Woodbury's] writing about the many faces and ages of woman: the loving woman, the creative woman and the aging woman. The work celebrates all of life with laughter, tears and silence. Honouring the body, mind, and spirit of what it means to be a passionate human being, these poetic reflections allow readers to experience their own vulnerability and joy."

I have not read everything in this book, but I am going to see how many people would be interested in a bookring! I've made a posting in the forum...just PM me with your shipping preferences.

Feb. 18, 2004 - I received this book from Merenwen last week. Reviews - working with words are not my forte but I will try. What a delight. I enjoyed Mary Woodbury's peotry and writing more than I can say, in fact, I intend on purchasing my own book. Her down-to-earth honesty and sharing has a power of its own. Much of what she wrote about I could identify with and of The Loving Woman portion, - that is what love is, simple and profound all at the same time. I can only hope that some day I will have the privilege of running across this talented lovely woman so that I can thank her in person. I hope that this book touches everyone as it goes around the ring as it has touched me.

This is the first bookring I’ve participated to reach me, so I was very excited to see that it had arrived. The book seemed like a proper reading for International Women’s Day, so I decided to take a break on my exam reading (I have an exam week going on at the moment) and read the short book of poems. It was a kind of reward as well, because I think my today’s exam went well :)

Somehow the book didn’t take me with it, though. In the cover it says that it is prose poetry and I found out that I prefer either prose or poetry. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, that this wasn’t really my style. I’m glad I tried and got to read it though. I liked some parts of it anyway. What I really liked about was that she can talk about older people having sex, which is some times considered a topic to not to talk about.

Well, I guess it's off to Caracas. Will send it on it's way day after tomorrow.

"Fruitbodies" was in the mail today ;)
Thank you RoryG and Merenwen!
....Well, I think it is as RoryG said: somehow the book didn’t take me with it! Maybe the next participant will enjoy Mary Woodbury`s prose poetry more than I did....

The book is now on its way to Sudizoso....

It arrived today. I´ll read it asap.

It took me some time, to get into this book. e.g. I enjoyed it much more, when I was reading it loud, instead of silent. I think, that I haven´t understand all of it, for I´m not a native speaker, and some passages or poems I didn´t understand for me beeing a male. But all together I liked it.

I´ll send it on to Co-ste on monday
