It got in the hands of the right person!

This will be reading material for night in the motel during my long drive to Texas. Thanks for the book! It'll be re-released when I'm done.

Well, although this book got many good reviews, and apparatently this author has quite a fan base, I must admit I didn't really love it. But I'll put in the disclaimer that I'm not a big mystery/thriller reader to begin with, and had it not been in a geocache, I wouldn't have gone out of my way to get it.

This is the story of Barrie Travis, news reporter -- or investigavite journalist, rather -- who is given the opportunity to delve into the truth beyone the American President's infant's death.

Imagine taking a big heaping dash of John and Jackie Kennedy, peppering it with a little J. Jonah Jameson, throw in a bit Tia Leone from Deep Impact and you begin to get a feel for this book. Only this President and his wife seem far more perfect and are in reality far more flawed than the Kennedy's could ever dream of.

The style of writing was a bit like that of Sue Grafton, though I didn't feel as sympathetic to Barrie as I do towards Kinsey Millhone.

This book included lots of twists and turns and kidnappings and murders and suicides and even a bit of Baron von Muchausen syndrome by proxy for good measure. But some of it seemed way too far fetched for me to believe, and though the end was good, with a twist, I kinda figured it was gonna be something like that.

I had originally intended to re-release this back into the geocache system, but everything's bigger in Texas, except the geocaches. It's abundantly micros here, at least in SA, and they aren't big enough to release books in. So, I'm going to be releasing this in a mass release called The Wheelbarrow Project on Memorial Day. There, I've decided to represent many out-of-state bookcrossers by proxy (pun intended) whose books I have found, and I will continue them on their journeys. I'm sure this book will find the right reader there.

Released on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at Sam's Burger Joint in San Antonio, Texas USA.

I would have attended the bookcrossing meet-up in person, but commitments with my children kept me away. I sent my husband, Bookcrosser Flyinfox, with a pile of books I had set aside for the Wheelbarrow Mass release, to give my bookcrossing friends first dibs.

This was not in the bag when he returned home, so obviously it got released.

However has it, I hope you enjoy it!
