Journal Entry 2 by BXSV at Starbucks - Castro in Mountain View, California USA on Thursday, December 4, 2003
Released on Thursday, December 04, 2003 at Starbucks on Castro in Mountain View, California USA.
I caught the book today at Starbucks, Castro Street in Mountain View. It is my second "bookcrossing.com" caught book.
I have read most of his books. I loved his writing because of its mystical/kabalistic portents. But a number of years ago I had the opportunity to meet him. In fact, I paid $50.00 dollars to meet him. It was a fundraising event. Following a very brillant and fascinating lecture about creativity, those of us who had paid our $50.00 had a two-hour cocktail party with him. I don't think he like socializing much. He was kind of rude and arrogant. The hostess was very embrassed. I was disappointed that my kabbalistic idol had not lived up to my expectations!
However, sadly, a couple of years ago, Potok died of a brain tumour. The same kind of rare brain tumour that a close friend of mine also died from that same year --- just a few days apart from each other.
Ilook forward to re-reading The Promise
I wish we knew more about the experience of this book by the person who released it! Anyway, thank-you.
