Probably the first William Boyd book I read, and one of my favourites. Added to the Tutti-Frutti Favourites Bookbox, oragnised by Lucycat.

Well, I gave this one the old college try, but just couldn't get into it - I think I'm becoming severely jaded in my dotage, but if a book isn't doing it for me within about twenty pages these days I'm finding it increasingly easy to move on. Which is a good thing, I think...but then you just can't help wondering about the one that got away...;O)

I'll take this one with me to the next Leeds meet and see if I can't find another eager reader there.

(P.S. The 'one-star' rating has no reflection at all on the quality of the writing (or indeed the fabulously funky cover), it's just my standard rating for a book that I didn't finish...)
