It is a dark comic short story collection of life on an Indian reseversation. It made me sad to realize just what has become of the people who resided here first.

This book was poignant and funny. Each story flowed into the next like a truly masterfully crafted tale. Even though each was a stand-alone story, you can feel the same heart in them all. Perhaps it is because I live in Hawaii and have contact with a different group of indiginous people, but I can see the bleak truth behind the humor in this book.

Hoorah! This book arrived a few days ago & has been making a slow and treacherous journey from the mail sorting area, to the top of another pile of books, to the bottom of a pile of homework and has finally made it all the way to the computer to be journaled as safe in my hands! Though from it's journey in my house so far this book does not think this is such a safe place. Oh well, at least it will make friends. :-)

Thanks fanclub! I'm looking forward to reading it; I really like Sherman Alexie.

I'm in the middle of this one right now and I'm finding it darker and more mysterious than his latest collection, Ten Little Indians. I'm glad to have this one for the classroom collection.
