A rather good urban fantasy, set in New York. It has all the cliche elements of fantasy: urban fae, mysterious silver box with strange artifact inside, dusty old vanishing shoppe, with odd little man, strange, dark creatures and mysterious shifts in perception - all the old stuff, but somehow Carroll gives them a shiny new spin, and they come out looking fresh and original.
