This is another book that I am currently reading. So far, I think it is a wonderful read. The author makes what I feel is a galant effort to deconstruct the myth of medical infallibility. In the process he forces us to deal with questions that may be uncomfortable for us to deal with... For example, would you allow a new intern to operate on you in a hospital. Most people would say NO. But if everyone were to say 'no' then how would this intern learn to become a surgeon. Is it justified that the intern must "learn" how to operate on patient's who are powerless to choose or not saavy enough to know the difference in the level of experience in surgeons? When I complete reading this thought provoking book, I plan to release it to my brother and sister-in-law.
