At least I found this one although I really wanted the McCall-Smith one.
let's see if it's worth reading: Dora and Nora Chance are a famous song-and-dance team of the British music halls. Billed as The Lucky Chances, the sisters are the illegitimate and unacknowledged daughters of Sir Melchoir Hazard, the greatest Shakespearean actor of his day. At once ribald and sentimental, glittery and tender, this rambunctious family saga is Angela Carter at her bewitching best.
It might be fun and Ruth Rendell makes a good comment.

That is how the book finishes and reflects what the author was trying to tell us that life has to be lived to the full. Apparently this was her last book as she was dying of cancer at 51. I read a number of reviews and summaries on the net as I wanted to move the book along and have so many more to read!!!!

This is a well written, unique, quirky story that moves along beautifully, quite literally never a dull moment. It is funny, audacious, bawdy, and often flat-out farcical crazy.
