The Rockies: Pillars of a Continent
1 journaler for this copy...
Explore the Rockies, North America's legendary mountains, and their dozens of different ranges, in the company of author Scott Thybony and photographer Paul Chesley. As you enter a vertical world of natural beauty, you'll begin in New Mexico, below the rugged slopes of the southern rockies. Witness Taos Indians dancing below their sacred mountain. In Colorado you'll ride a narrow gauge railway into the San Juans, join the Aspen, and snowshoe through a blizzard deep in the Rocky Montain National Park. To the north, in Wyoming, you'll encounter cowboys branding cattle below the Wind River Mountains and ski with geologist into a backcountry geyser basin in Yellowstone. You'll wander through Montana ghost towns, watch smoke jumpers train for the first parachute jump and backpack across the dramatic landscape of Glacier National Park. Crossing into Canada, join mountaineers on an ice-field, traverse in Banff and Yoho National Parkes, raft alpine whitewater, and enter a camp of nomadic Indians.
