Blurb:
Summer 1924. On the eve of a glittering society party, by the lake of a grand English country house, a young poet takes his life. The only witnesses, sisters Hannah and Emmeline Hartford, will never speak to each other again.
Winter 1999. Grace Bradley, ninety-eight, one-time housemaid of Riverton Manor, is visited by a young director making a film about the poet's suicide. Ghosts awaken and old memories - long consigned to the dark reaches of Grace's mind - begin to sneak back through the cracks. A shocking secret threatens to emerge, something history has forgotten but Grace never could.
Set as the war-shattered Edwardian summer surrenders to the decadent twenties, The House at Riverton is a thrilling mystery and a compelling love story.

vielen Dank :)
thank you :)
thank you :)
I enjoyed reading this book, it is very well written, but I was a bit disappointed by the "shocking secret", as I could guess most of it way ahead.

to keeta1 :)
Thanks Releanna, the book arrived safely today. It may take a while until I get to it though, as I have a huge TBR pile :) A nice problem to have, no?
Hi ApoloniaX
Hi ApoloniaX
Well it only took me a year to get there!
I really enjoyed this book. As Releanna said, you could guess most of the "secrets" right from the start, but nevertheless the writing was good enough to keep me engaged to the end and the ending was a little different to what I expected!
This is the first Kate Morton book that I've read, but I do have another one here, which I now look forward to reading even more :)
