The book is here with me safely. I have a couple of pages left of my current read and then I'll start this xx

Journal Entry 8 by Danielle23 at Sunderland, Tyne and Wear United Kingdom on Saturday, December 28, 2013
I can't say that I 'enjoyed' this book as such but I did find it very interesting. I found it quite a page turner if only to find out which strange cult were to be found living in the desert next.

The beginning of the book seemed to be progressing quite normally but once we entered the desert it took a strange turn. The very idea of physically turning a man into a woman, able to procreate and all, was strange enough but the escapes, brutal rapes, and falling in live with a woman who is actually a man got a little bit too strange for me.

This book was definitely a talking point though and I ended up talking about this book much more than I usually do which I guess is exactly why it made it onto the list.

Was in my mailbox yesterday. It’s the next one in my TBR pile...

Journal Entry 11 by Ftarazu at Ovar, Aveiro Portugal on Friday, March 28, 2014
What a weird book! I get mixed feelings about it: can’t say I have really enjoyed it or that I disliked it… It was hard for me to start reading it but then I actually wanted to know what would happen next and I was looking forward to get to the end and learn what would happen to Eve/Evelyn…

I have to agree with Danielle23: at least I talked about the book much more often than usual. I was always telling people “I am reading the strangest book ever…”. It is a very bizarre and hallucinatory book.

Waiting for sarahmangan’ address…

Yes... I have to say I agree with you both - a very, very strange book! I expected to really enjoy it because I've loved the other stuff I've read by Angela Carter, particularly Wise Children and The Magic Toyshop, but this one was just too bizarre for me!

I already have wheepaperclips' address so I'll get this send on this week. Thanks again for including me in the ray.
