Since I like Patricia Cornwell a lot and do not know "Post Mortem" yet I took this book with me from the Dublin Bookcrossing Convention. As - of course - I cannot read English as fluently as German it will take me some time reading it. Thanks for the book.

As I already told in my first JE I took this book with me from the Dublin Bookcrossing Convention since I like Patricia Cornwell a lot and I've read a number of her books, most in German, of course. As I learned, "Post Mortem" is her first novel - and it is excellent (with an unexpected end), i.e. I had not forseen this end.
This book will travel with Booklover's-IGB Krimi-Thriller-Box. Enjoy reading!

Journal Entry 5 by wingBooklover-IGBwing at Sankt Ingbert, Saarland Germany on Sunday, October 21, 2012
I took the book out of my box Krimi-Thriller-Spannungsbox. So far I don't like the Kay Scarpetta series but as this is the first book of the series I will give it a try. Maybe I'll like the whole series better when I know it from the start.

A seriel killer is on the loose in Richmond, Virginia. Three women have died, brutalised and strangled in their own bedrooms. There is no pattern: the killer appears to strike at random - but always early on Saturday mornings.
So when Dr Kay Scarpetta, chief medical examiner, is awakened at 2.33 am, she knows the news is bad: there is a fourth victim. And she fears now for those that will follow unless she can dig up new forensic evidence to aid the police.
But not everyone is pleased to see a woman in this powerful job. Someone may even want to ruin her career and reputation...

I'm sorry but also when starting with the first book the series cannot catch my attention for long time. I even cannot say why exactly I don't like it, I think it's a mixture of the characters and the author's style. So after a few pages I again decided that Kay Scarpetta and I will never become friends.
