After Mia Fredicksen's husband of thirty years asks for a pause - to indulge in his infatuation with a young French colleague - she cracks up (briefly), rages (deeply), then decamps to the prairie town of her childhood to consider her position. It's a familiar scenario, though what transpires in this provocative, mordant and vivacious tragicomedy is anything but predictable.

I really enjoyed accompanying Mia on her journey. It covers all parts of a woman's life: the youngsters adolescence; her daughter's 'single' years; Lola's early marriage; reflections on a longstanding marriage and life after men. I love Abigail's secret that she is too scared to share until Mia comes along. I also felt I could really relate to a lot of these situations although towards the end it became a little rambling. Unfortunately the poems did nothing for me but other than that it was a great read.

Thank you so much!

20/4-12

I really enjoyed this book, it was a lovely read, most of it I read on my way home from Dublin. I do agree about the poems, I thought they were tedious, but I really loved Abigail and her art and the story about the girls.

If I don´t release it before then, I´ll keep it for 2013 Convention in Gothenburg.
