I just bought this from the Cancer Research charity shop on Grainger Street. I always buy these World Book Night copies when I see them in the vain hope that the first giver (in this case it's Steph Lonsdale. She collected it from Ripon Little Bookshop) at least will have journalled it. What a shame that she hasn't. Nevermind. I will release this so the next owner will get it for free.
Do I really have to read this? I normally do when I find a travelling book but I read one of Austen's a few years ago. It was 50 pages of superb satire followed by 300 pages where I cringed with embarrassment for an author who had lost her way in a vague and meandering narrative. I'm about to start an Eng Lit Access course. If we do this text I'll use this copy. If not I'll release this unread with the excuse that the pressures of the course leave me no time :)
