I really enjoyed this book, I think it was written for (older) children, but it is nevertheless well worth reading as an adult too. I liked the quirky grammar and capital letters mid sentence which added an emphasis conventional punctuation might not have done. It reminded me of the Enid Blyton adventures I loved so much as a child. Set in present day England, it is a story told by Daisy, a fifteen year old American, sent away by her father and much hated stepmother, to live with her aunt and cousins. Shortly after her arrival in England, war breaks out and her aunt becomes stranded abroad, leaving Daisy and her cousins to survive alone without adults. I read it in one sitting! Thank you Christine for releasing this book and for introducing me to bookcrossing. x
