This is my favorite John Irving book so far. Great story, good ending.

Weird book about writers!!! How a four year old, abandoned by her mother (who becomes a writer) after her father (who is a writer) forces the mother to have the child (who they want to be a boy, but turns out to be a girl) after the couple loses both thier adored teenage sons in a tragic auto accident. The girl becomes a writer, too, as does the 16 year old boy who
the father hires for the summer to be his assistant, but is really being hired to be a lover for the mother, so that the promiscuous father
can stop feeling so guilty about his part in the accident, his promiscuity, and the fact that he is trying to get out of the marriage. Weird!!!
