Candy Smith-Foster, one of the first of a new human race - Homo Post Hominem. On the backside of the book they describe her as “..a brilliant, witty girl of the verge of womanhood, survivor of a bionuclear war that destroyed most of humanity..”
Don’t puke! She might seem a bit too perfect, but since everyone that survived is similarily gifted it’s not that bad. Sometimes I rolled my eyes at the fact that the characters could learn almost everything from books. But it’s the authors university, he decided that Homo Post Hominem is better, stronger and smarter than Homo Sapiens, and who am I to complain. I enjoyed the book very much actually.

I like “after the apocalypse” books, and this isn’t quite like the ones I’ve read before. It’s written in first person POV without much thought about “good English” and even if it felt strange at first it worked when I had gotten used to it. It screwed up my English grammar for weeks, but it was worth it.

This book is going to my sister eventually...

This ended up back in my bookcase one way or another. Time for it to move on perhaps?

Thank you! _^. .^_

I got the book a week ago and started reading it straight away, finished it just before the thunderstorm started. I had problems with the language and skipped through long descriptions about surgery (because squemish) and mechanics (because couldn't picture what went on) and computering (because tedious). I did enjoy the idea for the story and I'm also interested in post apocalyptic storytelling, both in novels and in films. There was some eyerolling involved in reading about Candy's adventures and the skills everybody had, but I bought much of what was in there because it was obvious that the author loved his protagonist. I did find all the talk about sex a bit disturbing because of Candy's age, but on the other hand I thougt it was great with a strong girl as the main character. My all time favourite was, of course, Terry. "How 'bout that!"

Thanks for sending the book to me.
