I finally got to finish this today. Great stories! Thanks for sharing, Jaremeister! This is soon on its way back to you.

Laymon does not pull any punches. Some of these stories were just a bit too uncomfortable for words ("A Good, Secret Place," and "Slit" are two examples for me). I really loved "Fiends," and I also liked "Special," "Kitty Litter," and "Joyce," which had me rolling with evil laughter. Good stuff, and a great collection of some of Laymon's stories

I loved this book! OK, I may say that about every Laymon book I read, I can't help it, I'm hooked on his stuff. Glad I finally got around to this one. The title novella was awesome. And the short stories.. I had read one or two before, so it was nice to revisit them... the others... wow! My favorites were The Bleeder, Joyce (I'm with mellion108 on that one, I laughed so hard), and A Good, Secret Place.

I will set this book free in about 30 minutes.

Jare actually caught this again; we went to the Friends of the Library booksale this morning, then were going to the local BC meetup but had time to kill so stopped at a Salvation Army shop on the way to cruise the books. Jare saw this on the shelf - checked inside & it was "his" copy. It must be this book's karma to hang out with BookCrossers. Anyway, I haven't read any Laymon, but keep hearing about his books so will give it a try & set it free again.

Edited to add: Jare PM'd me to say that we caught this on the anniversary of Laymon's death - more book karma!

10 March 2009 - Well, I can't say that I wasn't warned about this one, but my review is: Ick. This just isn't my kind of scary story - I prefer supernatural fiends to this kind of stuff.

Released 15 yrs ago (3/10/2009 UTC) at ABQ Ride (see release notes for details) in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA
